Trails (Preorder)
Trails is currently in production. Preordering secures a unit from the first limited batch shipping June 2026.
Draw, transform, and perform music with touch: Trails is a polyphonic touch recorder that turns gesture into melody, rhythm, and control.
Trails is a four-channel touch recorder for Eurorack that captures finger movement as musical structure. Melodic, harmonic, rhythmic, and control elements can be composed simultaneously through gesture and shape, then transformed in space and time to create evolving contrapuntal and polyrhythmic relationships.
With both CV and MIDI output, Trails can sit at the centre of a modular system while also controlling hardware and software instruments. Gestures can be stored across scenes, recalled in performance, and used either as smooth continuous signals or quantised musical material.
Core Capabilities
- Four independent gesture channels
- Simultaneous melodic, harmonic, rhythmic, and control generation
- Continuous or quantised gesture playback
- CV and MIDI control for modular, hardware, and software systems
Polyphonic Touch
Building on the expressive touch recording introduced with Gliss, Trails expands gesture control into a fully polyphonic system. Each channel provides X and Y position outputs following finger movement across the surface, alongside a gate output for timing and rhythm. Gestures can be recorded individually or across multiple channels, enabling anything from subtle modulation to complex multi-voice relationships.
Compose with Shapes
Trails’ transformation tools allow gestures to be rotated, pinched, and spatially offset while preserving their character. These transformations can themselves be recorded and applied non-destructively, supporting both delicate variation and performative intervention. Temporal manipulation enables looping, scrubbing, phasing, and touch-controlled resets, with playback speed adjustable globally or per channel.
Draw Sound
Multiple banks of touch-controlled faders provide macro-level control, allowing parameters to be chained and morphed between with adjustable slew times. Scenes capture complete system states for recall and performance, while a flexible breakout module allows the physical layout to be adapted to different Eurorack cases.
